Other Pass

There three (3) other pass that non-citizen of Malaysian need to know that is special pass, sticker endorsement & cancellation/shorten.

Special pass is facilities provided to students and dependents to avoid overstay. Students are reminded to observe their current pass (student pass/dependent pass) validity date to avoid overstaying on a current pass.

1. WHAT IS THE CONSEQUENCES OF OVERSTAYING YOUR VISA?

  1. Staying in Malaysia beyond the period allowed is a violation of Section 15 (1) (c) Immigration Act 1959/63 (Act 155). Any student that has been found to have been living in Malaysia after a pass / permit has expired or revoked will be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
  2. The Deputy Public Prosecutor will determine if the offender shall pay a compound or be charged in court based on the offence committed.

2. WHO IS APPLICABLE FOR SPECIAL PASS APPLICATION?

  1. Applicants who have overstayed their visa.
  2. Applicants whose current pass expiring 7 days before expiry date.
  3. Insufficient period of time during conversion from current pass to other passes.

  1. Transfer sticker is the process of transferring the valid current pass from the old passport to the new passport.
  2. This application is compulsory for the situation in which the current passport has been damaged, lost or about to expire.
  3. The current pass that needs to be transferred must have the validity of minimum 2 months and above.

If you are issued with a new passport due to the damage / expiry of your current passport and your Student Pass is still valid for 30 days or more, you must ensure the valid student pass is endorsed in your new passport. 
Student need to update new passport to IPS or BHEA after receiving the passport with the new sticker endorsement.

  1. Student that is falling under one of these categories (below) requires to cancel / shorten the Student Pass.

              a. Graduate/completion of studies

              b. Deferment of study (more than 3 months)

              c. Withdrawal or termination

              d. Progression or variation

              e. Apply for another pass

  1. Dependent that is falling under one of these categories (below) requires to cancel / shorten the Dependent Pass.

              a. Apply for another Pass

              b. Leave country

  1. Leave Malaysia without proper cancellation of Student / Dependent Pass will result in consequences if the student / dependent decide to apply to another institution within Malaysia or to apply for another pass in Malaysia.

  2. The university has the right to hold your certificate (for student) if proper cancellation is not done properly.

  3. The cancellation process at Malaysian Immigration Department may take up to 14 working days. Please seek an advice from UPM International Office (i-PUTRA) before purchasing your flight ticket.

  1.  Student that is falling under one of these categories (below) requires to cancel / shorten the Student Pass.
        1. Graduate/completion of studies

        2. Withdrawal or termination

        3. Progression or variation

        4. Apply for another pass

  2. Leave Malaysia without proper cancellation of Student Pass will result in consequences if the student / dependent decides to apply to another institution within Malaysia or to apply for another pass in Malaysia.
  3. The university has the right to hold your certificate (for student) if proper cancellation is not done properly.
  4. The cancellation process at Malaysian Immigration Department may take up to 7 working days. Please seek an advice from Visa Unit, IMC before purchasing your flight ticket.
